So I'm in Seattle. Exhausted, but not quite sleepless. The Mountain was out today. A straight run of impossibly clear, sunny days have cemented my love of this city in the 78 hours I've been here. Mt. Rainier's been showing off all weekend. She's quite pleased with herself.
Two friends, who offered Shea and I shelter, have given us infinitely more. We're staying in Queen Anne, with this insane view of the city and the mountains and Elliot Bay. They have a border collie named Willie and a garden. I wake up in the morning and look out -- the air is cool and clean. I feel very alive here.
I'm surprised we survived the trip. I have renewed respect for Verna -- The Little Nissan That Could. She dragged everything I own through the Rocky Mountains, with the air conditioner on, without missing a beat. Missing all her tail lights, but that's another story for next time.
I've got an apartment in Capitol Hill, where all hell broke loose Sunday during the end of Gay Pride weekend. But that's another story for next time.
I have many stories and very little time tonight. I do have these fantastically gorgeous tourist photos I took this afternoon, though. We went up to the Space Needle for sunset. But we forgot that the sun doesn't set in June until 10:00 PM. Strange, strange. That's okay; 8:30 was beautiful.
The following stories are currently brewing: Wall Drug South Dakota, Big Gay Father's Day, No Coffee Between Chicago and Spokane, Kristin vs. the Staff of U-haul pt. II, Days Inn Days Out, Wyoming Sucks!!! The Frighteningly Large Jackalope, and further tales from 'Shea and K do I90' so come back soon. I have four billion fantastic photographs. Wait till you see.
More to follow, including Mon Frere Shea's take on the trip. County O. And the suspicious absence of cows in Wisconsin.
The big question remains: where does the cheese come from?

I learned tonight that Mt. Rainier is actually 95 miles away... ain't she purty?

I'm SO glad to hear you've arrived, semi-settled in, and climbed to the highest, coolest spot in the City. (We leave Mt.R for potential visits later.)
I'd say welcome home, but you've just left my home, and found your new one. I'll come see you on my way back from Mexico, maybe. It' right on the way through. Hehe.
Congrats on "No Coffee Between Chicago and Spokane" and I can't wait to hear about all the rest of the trip's adventures, however mini or huge they may have been.
Much Love,
-Jamin-
