Blue Suede Shows

|
Much, much good music in the city of Boston in October and November. Grab some pumpkins and come along.
  • 10/10 Cowboy Mouth, Cracker - Avalon

  • 10/16 Where the hell does Interpol get off charging $20 for a ticket? - Avalon

  • 10/18 Beulah, John Vanderslice - Middle East
John Vanderslice is on the Barsuk Records label. We love him for that.

  • 10/21 Superchunk (!!!!!) - Middle East
Okay here's the thing -- Superchunk is the first band I ever saw play at Paradise eight years ago. I'm a little nostalgic over this one.

  • 10/26 The Starlight Mints - Middle East
Hopefully this time the Starlight wonders will get more than 30 minutes of stage time without the ego-stankin April March shuffling around in her bad leisure suit on stage monopolizing the time slot of the headliners. I'm not bitter. I'm just excited for this time around.

  • 10/27 Minus The Bear, The Velvet Teen - Middle East
Big hug for the boys of Bear

  • 11/6 Andrew Bird (!!!!!!) Kristin Hersh, Howe Gelb - Middle East
    Need I elaborate?

  • 11/6 The Eels - Paradise
(Don't go to this show -- go see Andrew Bird.)

  • 11/9 Mike Doughty - Paradise
For all you Sugar Free Jazz lovers, the man behind Soul Coughing -- hopefully this show will not make me slit my throat for all the lost joy in the world like the last one.

  • 11/13 Jump, Little Children - Paradise

  • 11/22 Broadcast - Paradise

  • 10/24 Fooled By April - TT's

  • 11/7 The Wrens - TT's

  • 11/14 Sondre Lerche - TT's

  • 11/16 The Twilight Singers - TT's
    Yay! Fat Greg Dulli!

  • 11/21 Francine - TT's

I heard a rumor, and this has neither been confirmed nor denied, that Robyn Hitchcock is playing at Johnny D's in Somerville of all places. (Home of the best Jazz brunch for miles.) Anyway, the club is listing it as "tentative." So I guess you buy a ticket and hope he shows up. But don't tell anyone cause the place only seats 50 and there ain't enough sage sausages to go around.
