OK, so, after some initial missteps, I'm working on a code of conduct for my blogging that should hopefully protect the innocent. This will morph over time as I learn from my mistakes.
This blog is written primarily for my friends: the one or two who will check this regularly, and the ones that I don't get to see regularly who just want an additional way to keep in touch. As someone who's ambition is to be a working writer for life, I recognize that I'm writing for an audience. Therefore, I take responsibility for my words and consequences that arise from posting them this kind of public forum.
Statements of Intent
- My blog is a mixture of poetry, fiction, non-fiction, fictionalized semi-autobiography, autobiography.
- I will not post knowingly false or misleading information, slanderous or intentionally hurtful speech, or personal attacks on this site. (Note: I will also remove comments that contain these things.)
- In autobiographical works from , I will disclose neither intimate details about any specific person, nor conversation shared under stated confidence, without his/her prior consent. (Sorry, but poetry and fiction remain under free rein.)
- Creative writing based on actual persons will only contain names that have either been removed or changed.
- NO entry is to be taken as "gospel truth." Unless specifically stated, my writing is not necessarily about one thing or person; it's merely my expression of what's in my head.
- Words can only ever be a small fraction of the truth. Anything I write here is strictly my interpretation, dramatization, story, or opinion from my point of view; nothing here necessarily represents the opinions or experiences of anyone other than myself. I openly acknowledge that "just 'cuz I say it, that don't make it so."
- My writing is my art, not necessarily my life. I'm not going to pull a Freyism and label something 'memoir' that isn't.
- I'm not a plagiarist. Quotations and paraphrasing will be properly referenced wherever possible.
- The links I post are intended for your benefit, but you follow them at your own risk. I take no responsibility for any content posted there. That being said, I'll try to use discretion.
