Follow the Wolf Moon

cover.jpg
Follow the Wolf Moon is my first collection of poetry, published by MJS Publishing Group in Colorado. When people ask me what I do, I can legitimately say I make a living from my poetry. Surreal! I owe so much to my friends for their support, inspiration, and merciless revision. I don't say it enough, but THANK YOU all.

Shameless pitch:

Support starving, local artists!!! If you'd like to feed me or keep me from running out of gas yet again, please buy my book from Amazon, direct from my publisher, Porter Square Books in Somerville, MA, Grolier's Poetry Shop in Cambridge, MA, Border's in Kingston, MA, or Bestsellers Cafe in Medford, MA.

Where's My Medication?

shea.fire.jpg

I'm a lot of things, I guess, but mostly I'm confused. I prefer to let my writing speak for me.

A dear friend once said that actions, not words, define someone. So, I'm on someone who:

  • watches well-made movies
  • savors vintage wine, good beer, and scotch whiskey
  • watches the moon fall into the lake where I live
  • enjoys art
  • respects fire
  • makes bad mistakes
  • asks for forgiveness
  • forgives
  • tries to understand things (and people)
  • breaks boundaries and barricades
  • loves the ocean and its inhabitants
  • tries not to take it all too seriously
  • tries to accept things for what they are
  • puts his expectations to sleep
  • shea.shana.jpg
  • rides and works with horses
  • responds best to people who are not afraid to be themselves--complete, authentic, disgusting, beautiful, insane, weird, whatever
  • enjoys people who allow me to do the same
  • smiles with his eyes
  • loves what he does
  • laughs at himself
  • can hold most any conversation
  • makes small talk
  • talks seriously with friends and strangers
  • listens to people
  • looks people in the eye
  • is always polite to people who work in service trades
  • gets off on all Eastern arts... philosophy, meditation, martial arts, Tantra
  • enters that seedy neighborhood restaurant just because it's new
  • hikes mountains
  • sits calmly once he reaches the top
  • affirms that life is beautiful in the face of sorrow
  • seeks enlightenment and esoteric lore
  • rolls his own sushi
  • thanks his therapist and Eli Lilly for Strattera.

If that ain't enough, there's also a bio on my publisher's web-site.

Travelling in Hyperspace

"Kick her, boy!" said my grandfather, his voice cracking across my back like the lungeing whip in his hand.

Walk. Trot. Walk. Walk. Canter. Walk.
